Privacy
The short version. I collect public business contact details to email HVAC companies about my service, and what clients choose to share so I can do the work. I don't sell it. This website has no cookies, analytics or tracking. To stop hearing from me, reply "stop" to any email.
1. Who I am
Shon Zinger, a sole proprietor in Thornhill, Ontario, writing website pages for HVAC companies in Canada. I'm responsible for the information described here. Contact: shon.zinger@gmail.com, or 225 Thornway Ave, Thornhill, ON L4J 7Z2.
2. HVAC businesses I email
To find businesses to contact, I collect business information that is publicly available:
- from public business listings, such as Google Maps: the business name, address, phone number, website, Google rating and number of reviews;
- from the business's own website: the email address it publishes, the address of the web page where that email address appears, and which pages the website has.
I use it to decide which businesses to contact, to write the email (for example, naming a topic a competitor has a page for), and to keep a record of where each email address was published, which Canada's anti-spam law expects me to be able to show.
3. Clients and people who reply
If you email me, reply to me, or become a client, I also keep:
- our emails;
- what you tell me about your business, such as your services and service area;
- read-only Google Search Console access, if you give it, and the reports it shows;
- on Core, a login to your website that can add pages;
- billing records. Card payments are handled by a payment processor, and I don't receive or store card numbers.
I use this only to write and publish your pages, report on them, bill you, and, if you took the free first month, quote the results if they're good.
4. This website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website host, the host may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. I don't use them to identify visitors.
5. Who else handles it
I don't sell or rent anyone's information. I use a few service providers to do the work, and they handle information on my behalf: email (Google, and Resend once I use it for sending), business listings (Google Maps), the AI writing tools that draft pages (Anthropic), the database where I keep records (Airtable), card payments (Stripe), and this website's host (Netlify). Some of them store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.
6. Opting out
Reply "stop" to any email from me, or email shon.zinger@gmail.com with "stop" in the subject. I'll add your address to a do-not-contact list and won't email you again.
7. How long I keep it
- Businesses I emailed who didn't become clients: kept as a record of where the email address was published. I review these records once a year and delete them when they're no longer needed, and at most three years after the last email.
- The do-not-contact list: kept for as long as I send email, because it's what stops you being emailed again.
- Clients: while you're a client. Billing records are kept for six years, as Canadian tax law requires.
- Website logins and Search Console access: I stop using them when the service ends and delete any login details I hold. Please also remove the access on your side.
8. Seeing, correcting or deleting your information
Email me to ask what I hold about you or your business, to correct it, or to delete it. I'll answer within 30 days. I'll keep only what the law requires me to keep, such as billing records and your address on the do-not-contact list.
If you're not happy with how I've handled your information, tell me first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
9. Changes
If I change this page, I'll update the date at the top. If a change affects clients, I'll tell them by email.
